Welcome to Dana Street Primary!

Welcome to Ballarat Primary School (Dana Street), where a proud history of educational excellence meets innovative teaching and learning for the future.

Established in 1857, Ballarat Primary School is the oldest Victorian Government primary school in Ballarat. Located in the heart of Ballarat's central business district, our school has been an integral part of the local community for more than 165 years. Today, with an enrolment of approximately 220 students, we continue to honour our rich heritage while embracing the opportunities and challenges of contemporary education.

At Ballarat Primary School, we believe every child has the potential to thrive. Our vision is to empower every student through a culture of engagement, curiosity and excellence, inspiring them to embrace challenges, develop confidence, and achieve their personal best. We are committed to nurturing resilient, compassionate and lifelong learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Our welcoming and inclusive community is built on strong partnerships between students, families, staff and the wider community. We provide a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Our dedicated staff foster high expectations while supporting each student's individual strengths, interests and aspirations.

Learning extends beyond the classroom at Ballarat Primary School. We offer a broad range of educational, cultural, sporting and wellbeing opportunities that encourage students to discover their passions, build meaningful relationships and become active contributors to their communities. Through authentic connections with local organisations and a global outlook, we prepare our students to be thoughtful citizens who can make a positive difference in the world.

Whether you are joining our school community for the first time or have been part of our story for generations, we invite you to discover what makes Ballarat Primary School (Dana Street) such a special place to learn, grow and belong.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our school.
