Welcome to Dana St Primary School
In 2018 Ballarat Primary School ( Dana Street ) has a student enrolment of nearly 250. It is located in the Ballarat central business district. The school is Ballarat’s oldest Victorian Government primary school and was established in 1857. It has played and continues to play a significant role in the education community of Ballarat.
The core purpose of the school is to provide a comprehensive education for all students through effective communication, strong teamwork and the application of a range of teaching and learning strategies within a climate of fun and enjoyment that enables students to reach their academic, social, emotional and physical potential.
We believe that education is a process of growth underpinned by the following community values: respect, care, responsibility, inclusion, tolerance, understanding and excellence.
In 2018 the school is organized into 11 learning groups supported by specialist visual and performing arts, LOTE ( Japanese ), health and physical education and sports programs. This provides a comprehensive and engaging teaching and learning program for all students.
Students are also supported through student wellbeing programs and strategies which are aimed at developing responsibility, resilience and social, emotional and physical potential.
In 2018 the school has almost 25 teaching and non-teaching staff. This includes a Principal, Assistant Principal, office staff, class teachers, specialist teachers and education support staff.
Everything we do in our school is underpinned by our school values of respect, care, responsibility, inclusion, understanding and excellence.
